The human heart is what keeps us alive, by continually pumping blood through our arteries and around our body... But it really is so much more than an organ that keeps us alive... The heart may also be responsible for the production of 'Oxytocin', fondly referred to as the 'love hormone'...
Expressions such as, 'Open your heart', or... 'My heart goes out to you', may be more than symbolic. Some people habitually visualise their heart opening and reaching out to others, making them more calm, confident, compassionate and creative... When choosing a flavour of ice cream, an item of clothing, or even a home, you might be better off letting your emotions guide you... Likewise, the same applies to emotions of the heart, such as longing, desire, separation from ones you love and the deep intense emotional feelings that the heart produces... The expression... 'No matter how many times you are told she will break your heart, or how many times she does it, you'll never give up, Why?...because you love her...' is the perfect example...
It seems the old adage 'trust your heart', is true in every sense of the word... If one buys a house and relies on very cognitive attributes such as resale value, one may not be as happy actually purchasing it... Ultimately, no matter what people may say, the heart can very well serve as a more reliable compass to greater long-term happiness than pure reason...
